Toyota Hiace 12 Seats Economy Transfer

It’s not glamorous, but the Toyota HiAce remains Australia’s top-selling van by a country mile.

Not a car we often ponder, the trusty Toyota has nevertheless outsold high-profile passenger cars such as the Honda Jazz and Ford Focus so far this year — 2381 cargo vans and 928 commuter bus versions in total. Now, just to extend its market dominance over the likes of the Hyundai iLoad (1425 units over the same period), Toyota has a new five-seater version.

In the launch announcement from March, Toyota said that this version would “enable drivers to transport fellow workers during the week and family members at other times”. But would you?

The recipe for the HiAce Crew Van is simple: Take a long-wheelbase HiAce cargo van and fit a bench seat in the rear that seats three-across, while keeping significant cargo space behind it for your gear. It’s not a new concept, given rivals such as the iLoad and Volkswagen Transporter are also available in similar iterations.
Those new rear seats should really be called ‘apprentice seats’, because that’s who you suspect they’ll be carrying.

The rear row is a single-piece bench configuration that flips forward somewhat flush against the front of the cargo hold. To do this you remove the two outer headrests, flip the backrest down, flip the folded unit up, fold in the leg piece and push to click it into place. It’s a 10 second process.

You can’t remove the bench though. Toyota’s line about carrying families might be a stretch too, given the lap-only centre belt and lack of side airbags. The regular cargo version of the HiAce gets a four-star ANCAP safety rating against 2011 criteria, though.

The MY15 update also brings with it the fitment of ESC stability control which, as we found out when driving a MY14 version last year, was desperately needed. We lit the dash light up numerous times under some less-than-strenuous driving, and it worked as it should have.

The rear seat row is much more spacious than any (invariably safer) dual-cab ute, with frankly generous levels of legroom and acres of headroom. There are also sliding manual rear porthole windows, and the twin sliding side doors have large glass inserts that make outward visibility better than average for all occupants.

The regular cargo HiAce has a class-topping load length of 2900mm, while the crew version with the seats in use is about 2000mm — still 500mm longer than a dual-cab HiLux. Cargo space is a claimed 6000 litres, and the payload is 865kg (most utes are one-tonne).

Mer Sprinter 16 Seats Family Van Transfer

Mer Sprinter 16 Seats Family Van Transfer

Everyone’s favorite full-size European commercial van is getting updated for 2014 with tweaked styling, more safety tech, and a new base engine and transmission. We are, of course, talking about the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Overseas, the Sprinter is a big deal, but here in the U.S. it’s still a relative niche player, but likely not for long. That’s because Ford is replacing the long-serving E-series van with the Transit and Ram is introducing the Fiat-derived ProMaster—both rigs closely mirror the Sprinter’s tall and narrow European look. The infusion of direct competitors should help bring the Sprinter to the forefront of commercial buyers’ minds.

The Sprinter’s most visible change is its front-end styling, which adopts Mercedes’ smaller, Renault-based, Euro-only Citan van’s flashier look. The grille is more upright than before, and gets Benz’s latest take on its signature three-slat design. A new pair of headlights flanks the grille, and features the same eyebrow-like (LED!) turn indicators that have proliferated throughout the Mercedes lineup. A fresh hood accommodates the new fascia and headlights, and it sits higher than before. Inside, there are new seat covers and upholstery, the steering wheel is thicker, and higher-spec models even get chrome air vent surrounds.

While European Sprinters offer a range of diesel and gasoline engines, here in the U.S. we’ll continue to get a diesel 3.0-liter V-6 plus a new 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel. The diesel four takes over base-engine duties, and makes 161 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque—figures that trail the now-optional diesel V-6’s by 27 horsepower and 60 lb-ft of twist. To help the smaller engine make the most of its power, Benz is pairing it with the European model’s seven-speed automatic transmission; the V-6 continues to make do with a five-speed slushbox. Mercedes-Benz claims that by lowering the Sprinter’s suspension, it has improved fuel economy by reducing drag and made loading cargo easier by lowering the lift-in height.

Even for a sector that has over the years continued to witness the best of the best being created before being introduced to millions and millions of car drivers, the introduction of the new 2015 Toyota Innova has already left the industry bristling with excitement. Toyota has over the years never failed to surprise with new and futuristic car technologies.

Although, much of the information about this 2015 machine has been kept under very close doors, the following is what we have gathered so far.

Although, much of the features that make up the outside have been borrowed from the previous model, this 2015 model promises a whole new host of improvements and redesign work. A lot of modifications have been done on the outside for the car now comes fully complete with some of the biggest and new changes; perhaps, the new distinct chrome hefty grille is one massive and notable modification that has been done on the outside. As if that is not enough, fog lamp and an improved bumper are other areas that have received some little work from the designers. Basically, the designer took what they had from the previous model and gave a bit of modification.

Under this hood is a 2.0 liter with 26- shutoff and WT, as the transmission. With this alone, drivers will be able to net up to 136HP and 182 Nm. The car will also feature a diesel motor device. The 2.5 liter 4-cyinder diesel engine will generate around 144Hp and around 190 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission on petrol engine is a five speed manual; this great, but quite hard to use. It is on point and comes with a very nice feedback. On the other hand, the diesel engine comes with 4 speed automatic unit coupled with overdrive. This one is quite easy to use; it is smooth, but very slow if you compare with the other one.

Kia Sorento SUV 7 seats

Kia Sorento SUV 7 seats

The Kia Sorento is a mid-size crossover with seating for seven. It comes in several configurations, with optional all-wheel drive and the choice of four- or six-cylinder engines. A new version arrived for 2016. The Sorento has evolved from its earlier life as a traditional SUV to a more modern, car-like crossover; the same switch that was made with its Hyundai platform mate, the Santa Fe.

Sorentos face off against a raft of competitors in various sizes, from Chevrolet's Equinox and larger Traverse, Ford's Edge and larger Explorer, the Nissan Murano and Pathfinder, the Toyota Venza and Highlander, and trailing the pack, the Dodge Journey. Of course, its half-siblings, the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and seven-passenger Santa Fe, should be considered as well. In line with the competition--or perhaps slightly below it--prices for the current Sorento start at about $26,000, though a heavy hand on the options list will drive that above $30,000 quickly and the top models go for more than $40,000.

All Kia Sorento models are assembled at the carmaker's first U.S. factory in West Point, Georgia.
In its first generation, which was sold from 2003 to 2010, the Sorento was a body-on-frame SUV instead of using a carlike unibody to create a crossover. This decision hurt the model some, as many families prioritize the interior space, ride, and handling of a crossover over towing and off-road capability offered by a traditional sport-utility and its truck-like frame.

Economy Toyota Corolla Altis 4 seats

Economy Toyota Corolla Altis 4 seats

Let's get the elephant out of the room first. The Toyota Corolla Altis isn't a car you dream about having. It's the sort of car you buy with your head and not your heart. While that may sound as bland and boring as drinking a non-alcoholic beer, the Altis aces in more ways than one in real world driving.

Now in its 11th generation, Toyota has sold some 40 million units since it became the best-selling car three decades back. While it has undergone a series of design changes for the past 10 generations, it's only with this latest iteration that Toyota can proudly claim it to be a barking revolution rather than evolution.

Exterior

Taking cues from the Toyota Furia Concept, it's clear that Toyota is starting to push the envelope. The new Altis is easily the sleekest of the lot, with a swept back windshield, sporty chrome strips, redesigned bumper and new headlamps, giving it a Continental flavour that sets it apart from rivals such as the Honda Civic, the Nissan Sylphy and the Volkswagen Jetta.

Toyota Vios 4 seats Sedan

Introduced in 2002, the Toyota Vios is a compact sedan developed for the China, Taiwan and South East Asian markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Competing in the popular compact sedan segment with other strong contenders like the Honda City, Mazda2 and Nissan Almera, the past two generations of the Vios have been a major hit with Singaporeans.

11 years after the first generation was introduced here, the Vios has become a household name

And for drivers who obtained their license through the Comfort Driving Centre, the Vios would also probably be the first car they have driven.

The third generation Vios was unveiled at the 2013 Bangkok International Motor Show and will be offered in Singapore with two trim levels.

The E grade is a basic model which features the standard equipment just enough for the common driver, while the G grade, like our test car here, would attract drivers who fancy a bit more equipment and technology.

Exterior :

Although the new Vios and the outgoing model share the same platform, the new Vios is pumped up to stand at 4,410mm by 1,700mm by 1,475mm (L x W x H), which is 110mm longer and 15mm taller than the outgoing model.
